Wolverine Mortgage Refinance FAQ’s
Do credit unions offer rate locks?
Yes! We typically offer 30–60-day rate locks. This means that your interest rate is locked and will not change during that time frame. The goal is to close before your rate lock expires, causing a potential increase.
What do I need to qualify for a refinance?
What you need to qualify will vary based on the type of mortgage product you choose. Here is a general list of items we need across all mortgage products. If there is anything additional requested by underwriting, your mortgage officer will contact you.
What should I do to my house before refinancing my mortgage?
Unless there are issues with the construction of your home, like missing drywall and exposed electrical, you most likely don’t need to do anything prior to refinancing your mortgage. If you are applying for a Construction Mortgage to finish the construction, you will want to contact a member of our mortgage team first.
What is the general rule for refinancing a mortgage?
Have at least 20% equity in your home, prior to refinancing, so that you can remove private mortgage insurance and keep your monthly payments lower.
Can I refinance my vacant land?
Yes! Use our Wolverine Conventional Mortgage to refinance your vacant land with financing up to 80% loan-to-value.
