Grand Opening of New West Branch Location

Wolverine State Credit Union is excited to announce the grand opening of its newest branch in West Branch, Michigan. To mark this milestone, a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on March 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the official ribbon cutting taking place at 4:00 PM. This special event will also serve as an open house and business after-hours gathering, welcoming community members and local businesses to celebrate together with food, prizes, and networking opportunities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the dedicated West Branch team, who bring a combined 32 years of banking experience. Some familiar faces may be recognized, while others may be new introductions, but all share the same commitment to serving the financial needs of West Branch and the surrounding areas.

In the spirit of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday, guests can enjoy a festive atmosphere with a lucky-themed celebration, complete with refreshments, giveaways, and a chance to win exciting prizes. Whether you’re looking to test your luck or simply looking to connect with fellow community members, this event will be a fun and engaging way to celebrate the arrival of Wolverine State Credit Union in West Branch.

“We are thrilled to expand our presence and bring our personalized, member-focused banking experience to the West Branch community,” said Nick Montie, CEO. “At Wolverine State Credit Union, we believe in being interactional, not transactional. We are more than just a financial institution—we are financial partners, dedicated to helping our members achieve their financial dreams.”

Wolverine State Credit Union currently operates three other locations: two branches in Alpena, where the credit union is headquartered, and a full-service branch in Oscoda. With a mission to be Michigan’s leading credit union, Wolverine State Credit Union is committed to providing innovative products and services that empower members to reach their financial goals.

Founded in 2017 through the merger of Besser Credit Union and Thunder Bay Area Credit Union, Wolverine State Credit Union has a rich history of serving Michigan communities. The merger united the legacies of two longstanding credit unions: Besser Credit Union, originally established to serve employees of Besser Company, a global leader in cement block machine manufacturing, and Thunder Bay Area Credit Union, formerly Abitibi Employee Credit Union, which was founded to support employees of a local particle board manufacturer. This strategic partnership has enhanced financial services, expanded resources, and strengthened community impact.

Theresa Snider, Branch Manager said, “Our team is eager to build lasting relationships and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our members. We look forward to helping individuals and families achieve their financial goals while embracing the strong sense of community that makes West Branch so special.”

Wolverine State Credit Union invites the public to join the celebration, meet the team, and learn more about the credit union’s commitment to the West Branch community.
